Hi Glyn, Thanks for your question! To clarify, GitHub doesn't allow you to convert a personal account into an organization. Instead, you'd need to create a new organization and optionally transfer your repository to it. Here are some key points to consider:
Repository transfer: If you move your repo to an organization, the URL will change. GitHub sets up a redirect, but it’s still something to be aware of. Less simplicity: For solo developers, managing an organization can add unnecessary overhead. ✅ Benefits of an Organization: You get more control over access and project visibility. Required by tools like Compass, which only work with organizations. ❓ Should You Use Compass? However, if you’re working solo and Compass isn’t essential, it’s perfectly fine to stick with your personal account and skip Compass for now. Summary: Happy coding! Let us know if you need help with the organization setup or anything else. Best regards, |

I am trying to set up Compass and it requires my GitHub to be an Organisation account. Before I convert my personal account to an organisation account what are the pitfalls of doing this please? I have developed an application in my spare time and occasionally, however very rarely, get other people to assist in it. 99.9% of the coding is all my own work. However, I am not terribly technically savvy which is why I abandoned using web hooks.
Or should I just not use Compass?
Kind regards,
Glyn
